These would include our In Prison Visitation Teams, Group Mentor Class Facilitator, One on One Mentor, Seminar Group Leader or Facilitator, Pen Pal Ministry, Office Help, and Prayer Ministry.

The first step in becoming involved is praying to seek direction in which area of ministry you feel God is calling you.  The next step is filling out an application.  Then our Volunteer Coordinator will contact you and help you complete the process.  All volunteers must submit to a Washington State Patrol Background Check.  A criminal record may not keep you from volunteering, but could require some restrictions.

Detailed information on positions, is listed below.

Our Commitment to You!

We want to ensure your success as a volunteer, and equip you with the best skills possible. One of the ways we do this is through training we provide twice a year.

Our Volunteer Coordinator is available to assist you and serve as your liaison.

Group Mentors

We have partnered with Klemmer & Associates, a self-development company to bring Personal Mastery into the Washington Corrections Facilities. We are looking for Personal Mastery graduates who are willing to facilitate classes of people who have been released and have a strong desire to work toward their successful transition, better relationships, increase income, stronger Spiritual life, etc.

One on One Mentors

This process may begin while the person is still incarcerated, but will continue for an undetermined amount of time. This is a Big Brother/Big Sister type relationship only for adults. We teach that everyone needs mentors in different area of our lives to be truly successful. Mentors would be meeting with their Mentee on a regular basis and will have support of Fresh Start staff and other mentors

Seminar Facilitators and Small Group Leaders

This is a position that requires the ability to hold the attention of a class and bring trust and humor while teaching strong life skills. This Seminar is called Hope for Hire where we help people identify their limiting belief systems, in addition to how to write a resume’, fill out a job application and go on an interview.

Worship Leaders

We offer worship services and are always looking for good musicians and teachers. There is a very short set up time and a clearance process that require we use only guitars and keyboards.

Bible Study Leaders

Have you been looking for an opportunity to share the Gospel?   There are opportunities for you to have one on one and group Bible studies with inmates.  This is a great place to grow, as they will ask questions that will make you really dig for the answers.  You will leave blessed every time.

Family Support Group Facilitators

This is a ministry to the forgotten victims.  People rarely think of the parents, spouses and children of those who are incarcerated.  Often they are dealing with guilt, shame, embarrassment, and simply feeling lost, not knowing what to do.  Family support groups allow family members to gather and support one another.  They can talk about their frustrations, and joys as well as share with others how they overcame various trials and obstacles.

After Care Support

We offer various classes for people who have recently been released from incarceration.   The busier our clients are, the less likely they are to reoffend.  They long for new clean and sober friends and activities.  This is a way that we can help support them in their recovery and transition.
