Fresh Start Ministries is committed to reaching out to those whose lives that have been shattered by chemical dependency, crime, and past abuse.
We are dedicated to drawing out the best in people, helping them become all they were created to be. Doing this will create a safer, healthier, community along with building better parents, employees, and citizens.
Fresh Start has remarkable success in changing lives and breaking the cycle where people continue to return to jail, abuse drugs, and don't contribute to society. We turn lives around and our people open up new horizons for their lives...making them employable, good parents, and most importantly, good citizens no longer involved with the criminal justice system.How does Fresh Start achieve this?
Our success can be measured by some simple numbers:
- 73% of inmates at the Snohomish County Jail will return in a year.
- Only 28% of participants in a Fresh Start program return to jail in a year.
- In 2009, 350 people took part in one our Snohomish County Jail programs, of these, only 98 came back to jail in a year...that's 252 people kept out of jail and using costly resources.

Fresh Start
Hello everyone! I hope everyone is surviving this cold and snowy start to 2012. We had to cancel one of our jail programs due to the weather, but we will be back in the Snohomish County Jail in February.
We have welcomed several new members to our transitional homes that are working very hard to change their lives after serving time in prison. We are so excited to see the changes (and struggles) that these people go through as they become "new creations".
...A quick update about our transitional housing program: Fresh Start has taken over operation of a women's home in Everett, Washington. We are taking over the house from another non-profit and will now have room for 12 women transitioning and CHANGING their lives.
